2009 இற்கான சூரிய கிரகணம் , தை மாதம் 26 திகதி (26/01/2009) நிகழவுள்ளது. இந்த பூரண கிரகணமானது இந்தோனேசியா தீவுகளின் சில பகுதிகளில் தொளிவகத்தெரியும். இலங்கையில் 17% பங்கு கிரகணமே தெரியும். கொழும்பில் பிற்பகல் 2 மணியில் இருந்து பிற்பகல் 4 மணி வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் இது தெரியும். பிற்பகல் 3.10 மணிக்கு அது உச்சத்தை அடையும்.

What's an Annular Solar Eclipse?
the sun and the moon appear to be almost of the same size to an observer on earth. the earth orbits around the sun in an elliptical path. in january the earth is closer to the sun than rest of the year because of this elliptical orbit. in fact on january 04 the earth was closest to the sun. furthermore, the moon will be at it's apogee (or furthest from earth) on january 23rd. for these reason we can expect the sun to appear bigger than the moon. the moon will eclipse the sun forming a distinct ring. hence the term annular eclipse. (apogee and perigee times can be found in a blog post i made previously. see links bellow.)
වලයාකාර සූර්යග්රහනයක් කියන්නෙ මොකද්ද?
පෘථිවියේ සිටින අපට සූර්යා සහ චන්ද්රයා සමප්රමානව පෙනෙනවා. මෙයට හේතුව සූර්යා, චන්ද්රයා මෙන් 400ක ප්රමානයකි; සූර්යා, චන්ද්රයා මෙන් 400ක පමන දුරකින් පෘථිවියට සිටී. නමුත් මෙම 400 සාමාන්ය අගයක්. සූර්යා චටා පෘථිවිය ඉලිප්සාකාර පථයක ගමන් කරයි. සූර්යා මෙම ඉලිප්සයේ නාභියකි. ජනවාරි මාසයේ සූර්යා සහ පෘථිවිය ෙමම ඉලිප්සයේ ආසන්නතම ඡාපයක පිහිටනවා. ඉතින් සූර්යා වෙන මාසවලට වඩා මදක් පමන ලොකුවට පෙනෙනවා.
චන්ද්රයා, පෘථිවිය චටා ඉලිප්සාකාර පථයක ගමන් කරයි. පෘථිවිය මෙම ඉලිප්සයේ නාභියකි. ජනවාරි 23දා චන්ද්රයා, පෘථිවියට දුරින්ම පිහිටයි. ජනවාරි 26දා චන්ද්රයා මදක් පමන කුඩාවට පෙනෙනවා.
මෙම සංසිද්ධි නිසා වලයාකාර සූර්යග්රහනය ඉන්දුනීසියානු දූපත් වල දැක ගත හැක.
பூரண சூரிய கிரகணம் என்றால் என்ன?
பூமியில் இருந்து பார்ப்பவர்களுக்கு சூரியனும் சந்திரனும் ஒரே அளவாகத்தான் தெரியும் . பூமி சூரியனை ஒரு நீள் வட்டப்பாதையில் சுற்றி வருகிறது . இவ்வகையில் தை மாதம் 4ம் திகதி பூமியும் சூரியனும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று மிக அருகாமையில் வந்தன. ஆனால் இதேசமயம் சந்திரன் பூமியில் இருந்து வெகு தொலைவில் செல்கிறது. இக்காரணங்களால் இம்முறை சூரியன் சந்திரனிலும் பார்க்க பெரிதாக தெரியப்போகிறது.
சந்திரனானது சூரியனை மறைத்து ஒரு பெரிய ஒளிவட்டத்தை உருவாக்கும். இதுவே பூரண சூரிய கிரகணம்.

The altitude a and azimuth A of the Sun or Moon during an eclipse depend on the time and the observer's geographic coordinates. They are calculated as follows:
h = 15 (GST + UT - α ) + λ
a = arcsin [sin δ sin φ + cos δ cos h cos φ]
A = arctan [-(cos δ sin h)/(sin δ cos φ - cos δ cos h sin φ)]
where
h = hour angle of Sun or Moon
a = altitude
A = azimuth
GST = Greenwich Sidereal Time at 0:00 UT
UT = Universal Time
α = right ascension of Sun or Moon
δ = declination of Sun or Moon
λ = observer's longitude (east +, west -)
φ = observer's latitude (north +, south -)
