science: the coolest sun
NASA is reporting: "The Sun is plunging into the deepest solar minimum in nearly a century." That's what we have these days - the Sun at its lowest irradiance. The Sun undergoes a 12 year cycle and it has reached its minimum. In Sri Lanka however, we are approaching one of the two longest days of the year (April 07). Thus, it's getting warmer each day.

The Sun is cooler by a small fraction - during the minimum, Earth receives an irradiance of 1365 W/m2, while receiving 1367 W/m2 during the maximum. The difference of +/- 1 W/m2 from the average 1366 W/m2 might negligible. However in terms of total insolation it's a massive amount when considering the surface area of the Earth.
