Jan Janayagam is trying to bamboozle the UK citizens into interfering in affairs of foreign countries. She has never been to Sri Lanka, and has only been influenced by LTTE propaganda. In an interview given to BBC world service when asked whether the terrorist LTTE organization (an group listed as a most dangerous terrorist organization by US, UK and dozens of other countries)
Please understand that by telling the LTTE terrorist organization to keep fighting, it is as offensive to Sri Lankans as someone on TV telling Al Qaeda and Taliban to keep fighting and killing British soldiers (and civilians).
She supported the LTTE, which carried out the war crime of hiding among civilians. The ANC of South Africa never did that. No legitimate resistance group has ever target civilians, and no legitimate resistance group would have hid their main leaders among the civilian population when they were about to lose their war. An MEP is supposed to look out from British interests in the EU parliament.
Here is a list of terrorist attacks the LTTE has carried out:

The LTTE also fired at civilians who tried to escape from them, and in the final weeks shelled their own population in a desperate bid for sympathy.
Jan Jananayagam, like the other terrorist supporter MIA (who hilariously claimed that no Sinhalese person has been convicted of any crime including shoplifting in 60 years), are not afraid to lie to the media. Jan's specialty seems to be distortion, for example she states taht "1 million tamils lost their citizenship", that's a lie .. she is referring to the fact that Indian Tamils who had been brought by the British as tea estate workers in the central part of Sri Lanka (not the Northern Tamils who are fighting) were excluded from the Citizenship Act when the country was formed. This issue was later fixed and citizenship granted, so Jan has no idea what she is talking about. These Indian Tamils, all of whom are now Sri Lankan citizens, have never supported the LTTE in any significant manner.
Please do not vote for her. She will drag Europe in quagmires. She thinks she knows stuff and tries to interfere without full knowledge of realities in other countries. Citizens of UK, in this EU elections vote for someone who will put British interests firsts, instead of someone like Jananayagam who will try to use the EU and UK to fight a proxy war in her own interest.
If she really cared about genocides and ethnic cleansing, where was she when the LTTE was ehtnically cleansing the Northern and Eastern part of Sri Lanka of Muslims and Sinhalese?
There is a peaceful path towards national unity in Sri Lanka, and that is only possible without militant terrorist organizations such as LTTE. Issues of the Tamil people will be addressed via political discourse. This is the path that works in addressing legitimate grievances of any minority. Martin Luther King showed that, you can ask the black president of USA to witness that.
here is a link to the interview in which she encouraged the terrorist LTTE organization to continue fighting while civlians were being killed and suffering

Ultimately not only were the LTTE cadres shelling and fighting from there, the entire LTTE senior leadership were found in the civilian zone when the war ended.
