I bought the Sinhala language pack for Mac OS X from XenoType Technologies yesterday. I thought about it for a few weeks and came to a realization that the $49 I could have used to pump 33.3 liters of petrol was worth it.

මම බොහෝ කාලාක්‌ සිට සිංහල අක්‌ෂර නිසි අාකාරව Mac OS X'හි කියවීමට බලා සිටිමි. XenoType වෙතින්‌ නිකුත්‌ කරන ලද සිංහල භාෂා මෘදාංකය මම මිල දී ගනිමි.

I am a mac user. Seeing Sinhala text misaligned and using the Google Sinhala language widget to type was frustrating. So I bought the language pack and fonts from XenoType.

The language pack works flawlessly. There is documentation hidden in the Library/Documentation/Help/SinhalaOSXHelp/ directory.

Once the software is installed you can select the input source from the Systems Preferences window.
Systems Preferences > International
Select Keyboard Viewer and Sinhala-QWERTY.

The keyboard has three tires of characters which can be toggled by SHIFT and OPTION. Characters and modifiers are 99% phonetic. For eg when I type M: ම, and MA gives me මා, MI gives me මි, etc.

ලිවීමට පුරුදුවන තෙක්‌ Mac OS X'හි යතහුරු පුවරු නිරීක්‌ශකය භවිත කරමි. එහි ස්‌තර තුනකින්‌ යුතු අක්‌ෂර මාලාවක්‌ අැත. SHIFT සහ OPTION යතතුරු තද කිරීමෙන්‌ එම ස්‌තර ලබා ගත හැක.
